Shanghai is situated in the Yangtze River Delta and was first founded about 200 years ago. At its inception, it was a small fishing village, but it grew into one of the world’s most important financial cities. Aside from every major bank having an office in the city, large corporations such as Siemens, Bosch, Brose and KSB are also represented within the financial district. Within the last 20 years or so, over 4000 skyscrapers were erected in Pudong, providing the city with a unique skyline. Internationally renowned Tongji University and Jiao Tong University are also located in Shanghai, providing thousands of students with an excellent education before they set out to try their luck in the city’s economic and financial markets. It is said that if one can succeed in Shanghai, one can do it anywhere else in the world. Shanghai is often referred to as the New York City in the East of the 21st century.
