Lijiang

Lijiang (Chinese: 丽江) is a prefecture-level city in the northwest of Yunnan province in China. It is located at the Jinsha river. The city is 2600 meters above normal, on top of a plateau which is a southern foothill of the Himalaya. The population is estimated to 1.2 million citizens. One of the most important things is that there are living many chinese minorities, even more than the normal population.
Furthermore the oldtown is one of the Unesco Hertitage Sites. The streets are made of cobblestone and there are many canals. It is also a popular holiday destination for chinese people.
Besides there is the Tiger Leaping Gorge which is topic of many ancient legends.
