The capital city of South Korea lies in the country’s northern part, roughly about 25 miles south to the north Korean border. The whole metropolitan area Sudogwon has 25 million inhabitants, which correlates to almost half of the population of South Korea. Sudogwon ranks among the 5 biggest agglomerations and one of the four biggest economic zones in the world.
As metropolis, Seoul additionally forms the financial, cultural and educational centre South Koreas. The city is divided into 25 districts. One of the most prominence ones is probably Gangnam-gu because of the famous song Gangnamstyle by Psy. Also, Seoul provides a lot of different sights to see. For example, there are centuries-old palaces, temples and fortresses, the close proximity to the demilitarized zone (DMZ), as well as lots of parcs, museums, a district with traditional building constructions, called Hanoks. Therefore, Seoul is a touristic magnet with millions of tourists every year. Its variety of possible things to do and a totally different insight into “Asia”, besides China, the last stop of our excursion, leeds us to South Korea.
